Mission structure

The EU EOM is headed by the Chief Observer and the Deputy Chief Observer.

The mission consists of 67 analysts and long term observers deployed throughout Afghanistan. 50 short term observers, who will be deployed around election day, will also observe polling and counting procedures. The field staff will be based in 8 regional hubs to observe electoral activities in most of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan. Working together with Afghan staff, the EU EOM will be a 200-strong team.
